Camtasia 2 App Reviews

50 Customer Reviews:

I have been using this app for almost two years now. It replaced an older screen capture software that I had, but did not have any significant updates for a while. Camtasia is easy to use, powerful, and loaded with useful features. I highly recommend it!!

This is so much more than just a simple screen-video recording tool. It is also able to do many fun animations and transitions that can take existing video and turn it into a crazy multi-media production. Plus it is easy to learn since it uses its own recordings to make tutorials and easy to understand context-sensitive help. Just get it.

Wanted students to watch the lesson before coming to class! Camtasia gave me a quick way to make custom videos to meet the individual needs of my class and my students!

The Best

Hands down the best out of all the screen capture programs!

I’ve been using Camtasia for a while now, initially on PC. I’ve tried all the other screen recorders and I feel Camtasia gives you the bang for the buck. I have only one complaint, and that is with their recommendation to record the entire screen and then edit from there. You see, I’m a teacher that teaches programming for a living and using their recommended settings makes the text look blurry. However, if I set it to record in an HD format, such as 1280 x 720 (which is my requirement) then the video comes out perfect. I also wasn’t happy to hear the gentleman in the tutorial saying mediocre sound is okay… it is not. If they are going to tell you what settings to use they should be clear about the final output potential. With that said, getting past their recommendations I have no choice but to give the app five stars, highly recommended.

Excellent App and Easy to Use

This app works flawlessly and was very easy to learn. I was productive in less than an hour of use.

Love it!!

This is the most flexible, easy to use video software I’ve ever used! If they added some functionality that Captivate has, I’d be a user forever!

I have Camtasia 1 for windows. I use it all the time. It is the best software for recording video off of the screen in a Windows application. I also have a MacBook Pro Retina, MacPro, and iMac 27” all have at least 1GB Video ram, the MacPro has 32gb of ram. I purchased this and soon realized that this is so much less than the original. The end product is much less quality than the original(camtasia 1 produced) and I’m not at all exaggerating. The most annoying is the jumpy video playback and the resolution quality. They are so bad I had to go back to the originals serveral times and just was astonished at the difference. I’ve had the Camtasia 1 for over 5 years and so I’m very familiar with what the results should look like, but this is downright unbelievable. I spent the last 24hrs doing every trick I can imagine(uping the quality of the videos end result, using VLC, Quicktime as the player, Down grading the resolution to 720p from 1080p and still the most horrible recording. It’s really to bad, I wanted so badly to move from my windows computer completely and this would have been the nail in windows coffin but I quess I’m stuck with windows., and Camtasia 1, and believe me when I say I will never give them $100 bucks again for software that is now completely useless to me.

I am an IT trainer and teach courses in the Graduate School. I love this application for training videos and lecture capture. I am always getting compliments on how good the videos turn out…and it couldn’t be easier!

I needed an excellent product for doing videos on YouTube and this is anything but. Aside from having very few if any options for editing, the entire program crashes to desktop. Not worth 99.99.

I almost purchased another software package due to the price but am glad I stayed with Camtasia. It works great on my MacBook Air and is very simple to use. I hate reading directions. Without any reading had my first tutorial video finished in 15 minutes.

Ridiculous pricing for almost no transitions

No transitions or effects- SO very disappointed.

This is an excellent video studio; any reports of crashes must be from older versions. The current verson is stable, smooth, and wonderfully intuitive; I was making exactly what I wanted within 15 minutes of installation. It’s flexible, but incredibly easy to grasp. Highly recommended.

It is easy to use and spent very little time in manuals or looking at training videos. I’ve created several demo videos including multiple video segments as well as editing to remove mistakes and deadtime.

No complaints here. It’s a straight up very useful and easy to figure video editing software. $100 bucks does put make a dent in your wallet but I definitely prefer it over Windows Movie Maker, Wondershare, GoPro software, and iMovie. I researched many reviews on Camtasia and many users commented on how well it worked for Windows. So I tried it for free on my Windows computer and it did work flawlessly. Later I found out it was also availiable for Mac. I purchased it for Mac and I like it even better. I use it to edit my GoPro videos. I’m no video Guru but I would recomend the software to any amateur editor. Check out some of my YouTube Vidz at Channel: Dave Trevinate Jr.

I purchased this app to pre learn digital animation and digital design. I found this app very easy to manipulate and deliberate in it’s intent to work with a novice experimenting with digital narration. The intro to the program was short sweet and to the point but contained enough information to get you started out of the box. In todays digital market however, social media is a major driving force for application use and this app did not contain enough of that caveat to be addictive.

Many of my clients use the Camtasia version for Windows, and Camtasia 2 for the Mac is different enough that when they say “just click this, then this, …”, it’s a pointless exercise because the menus are laid out differently. Functionally speaking, however, Camtasia 2 for the Mac seems excellent to me. For basic recordings, it’s pretty straightforward to use out-of-the-box. Adding effects, markers, and other adornments is easy enough…especially after watching a couple of their tutorial videos. Those videos are excellent, but make sure that if you find them through Google that you’re looking at the Mac versions! Camtasia 2 is one of the few programs I’ve encountered that I’m happy to support by buying and using it. Aside: The Mac Air’s audio is a train wreck, so I use a Blue Yeti Pro USB microphone. Worth every penny if your budget allows it, and it’s just plug-and-go with Camtasia.

Camtasia is great, I use it on my Windows computer. I was thrilled to find out that they had a Mac version. But when I realized the Mac App Store version is really old and hasn’t been updated since October 2014, I was mad. You might as well buy the full Mac version from their website, which has all the latest updates.

I’ve used all sorts of screen capturing software. Although I started using Camtasia on a PC, I find the Mac version is just as good. It’s so easy to use. So powerful. And the TechSmith really, really is giving away a phenomenal program at such a great price. Highly recommend. If you want to be taken seriously when making tutorials, this is a must have.
